  For our Board, the annual members meeting is where the association members are invited to present questions and comments to the board. We will make every effort to answer or explain things. We welcome suggestions. The Q & A starts after the required regular board process is complete.

  Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
-The proposed budget
-Drainage issues and why water won't leave the retention canals like it has in the past.
-Canals clearing schedule
-Too many streetlights not being kept working or lighted as required
-Covenants enforcement
-How to apply for project approval
-Website information understanding

Recently, Sugarhill was fortunate to welcome a new board member who is enthusiastic about establishing an emergency preparedness program. The goal is to unite our community with a well-organized plan to reduce confusion during true emergencies, such as hurricanes. He introduced this idea at our annual meeting in February, where it received a very positive response. Since then, he has developed the plan and we distributed information packets to the community.

We are excited to invite you to a SPECIAL MEETING dedicated to understanding and implementing "The Emergency Preparedness Plan." We hope you can join us in supporting this important initiative.
All that is remaining is the very end of the drainage ditch between Lots 75 & 76 and it should be done soon.

This process should not be confused with the every-three-year cleaning of the bubblers and under-the-road pipes cleaning that uses a vacuum truck. That will be done next year.

Later this year we will likely be contracting a company that specializes in aquatic weed control to treat the tennis court lakes for weed control, a situation that could eventually block the proper drainage of the lakes.

This seems to be the best way to get things moving. The more requests the better.

Update: MC sprayed the community Tuesday 7-15. Mosquito population as of 7-17 has dramatically reduced. We will leave this notice with the link here for a while should the little suckers come back.

The Election is
Underway Time to Vote    

As of January 1, 2026, the Board vacancies nomination period has closed. Because four candidates were nominated for three open Board positions, an election is required. The election will be conducted electronically using ElectionBuddy.com the secure voting service the Association has successfully used in prior elections.

Our bylaws allow the Board of Directors to consist of 3, 5, or 7 members. Following the resignation of two directors nine months ago, the Board has operated with three members. One of those members has now reached the end of their term, leaving only two active directors, which is below an acceptable level. The Board’s preference is to return to a five-member Board.

Each property lot is entitled to one vote. Owners who hold more than one lot will receive a single ballot, and their vote will be counted once for each lot owned, in accordance with the Association’s governing documents.

The election will begin on Monday, January 12, 2026, when eligible owners will receive an email containing a secure link to their ballot at ElectionBuddy.com. Voting will remain open until February 26, 2026, closing two hours prior to the start of the Annual Members’ Meeting. Election results will be announced at that meeting. The meeting is the Annual Members Meeting, and will be held February 26, 2026 at 7pm at Pineapple Chalet 3472 NE Savannah Rd

Call for candidates to fill board vacancies has ended.   We have 2 new board members. There were no challangers during the Final Call period.

  After no one challenged, the two board member potentials in the month of December they have now become board members.

If you would like to serve on the Sugarhill Board and you are a more than 1 year owner, please contact a board member or visit the website 'Voting' page (located in the Website MENU) or goto the nomination form. Nominations need to be presented well before the December 31 deadline for the nominating committee review and to be included in the electronic and printed ballots that must be mailed 45 days before the February 27, 2025 @ 7pm Annual Members Meeting.

If only two owners request nomination and the nominating committee allows the nominations as qualifying and the board approves the candidates then the positions will be filled without an election. Our bylaws recognize that an election is only needed when more than 1 candidate is nominated for 1 vacancy. In this case that would be 1 or more above 2 vacancies.

A "Final Call" legal notification for candidates will be posted, mailed, and emailed on December 1 if only 2 owners have come forward. Update 12/2/2024 The Final Call Letter is now out with 2 candidates, here's the pdf of the Final Call Letter.

If only 1 owner or no owners want the positions we will continue with our 3 member board. If more than 2 want to be candidates an election will commence January 1 ending at the Annual Members Meeting on February 27, 2025 where the results will be announced.

We believe the POA Board of Directors should reflect the majority of homeowners views. Everyone should have a say in decisions that affect us all. Everyone should also be kept well informed, a primary goal of this website.
We also want to keep Sugarhill the wonderful place it is.

Who Want's to Catch Flies?

So this is a very old expression. Dates back to the 1500s. It's literal meaning refers to how flies will get stuck in honey and stay away from you (a good thing).

The human relationship meaning refers to how you treat people. Treat them with sweetness (kindness, compassion, consideration) and you don't have as many problems (flies bothering you). Treat them nasty (vinegar) and your problems will never go away.

We believe in this motto and try to live by it.
